years too early.

The Punks were playing it fast, loud, and a couple of years early. Somewhere in the early seventies they cut “My Times Coming” — a song that refused to stay in the past, eventually pulling the band into HBO's hit show Vinyl. Long before that, critic Lester Bangs caught them in Creem magazine and wrote about what he heard. Proto-punk, in other words: the spark before the blaze.
